Osceola Council On Aging Meals On Wheels

Home Delivered Meals, best known as MEALS ON WHEELS, is a service that provides homebound seniors and disabled adults in our community with two nutritious meals (one hot meal and one cold meal).  The meals are prepared in our kitchen and they are delivered by caring volunteers.  These volunteers deliver not only meals but joy and hope to our seniors.  Our seniors find a friend, a caring soul and comfort in the volunteers.

MEALS ON WEELS delivers more than a meal, IT DELIVERS SECURITY, PRIDE and HOPE, all this with a smile.

Meals On WheelsWHO QUALIFIES?
Any senior over 60 who cannot cook a meal or does not have anyone to cook for him/her.
If you are only temporarily disabled such as after an accident, injury, or surgery, there may be a limited amount of time that you can be on the program.  Once recovered and able to shop and cook for yourself again, your services would probably be terminated to make room for someone else.

The short answer is usually YES, often MAYBE, and sometimes NO.  When money is involved, it is generally a significantly reduced amount and affordable by most people.

Some of the meals are partly funded by:

  • Older American Act
  • Heart of Florida United Way
  • City of Kissimmee
  • City of St. Cloud
  • Grants, corporations and donors

Meals On WheelsWe also have subsidized meals.

ROUTES:  We serve all Osceola County.  At the present we have 31 routes:   11 routes in St. Cloud, 17 routes in Kissimmee including Celebration, 2 in Poinciana and 1 in Intercession City and Campbell City.
FROZEN MEALS:  We also deliver frozen meals to clients who lives in hard to reach areas.  These deliveries are done either once a week, bi-weekly or on a monthly basis by our volunteers.
